Who doesn’t want to see Mercedes SLS AMGs, Ferrari 458s, Porsches, Lamborghinis, Lotuses, Aston Martins and Corvettes spending 12 hours racing around Bathurst?

Well it happened a few weekends ago but no one told you. Of course this is how Bathurst used to be. We can blame decimal currency for Bathurst becoming boring. Fifty years ago when it was the 500 you had over 15 makes of car competing. Three years later when cigarette companies not only sponsored the race but had their lucky sales reps drive around in serious Ford GTs not only did you have over 15 makes but one make took the first nine places and each of them had only four cylinders!
